Hi, I’m MW.
I created Healing in Small Steps while navigating life with POTS, MCAS, and hypermobility after years of pushing through a body that was asking me to slow down.
This space is for anyone learning how to support a sensitive, overwhelmed system in a gentler, more sustainable way.
My story
For years, I knew something wasn’t right.
It started with constant exhaustion and brain fog feeling like no matter how much I rested, I never fully recovered. I kept pushing forward, trying to do everything “right,” but my body wasn’t responding the way I expected.
I worked with doctors, followed protocols, and searched for answers. Some things helped, but nothing seemed to fully explain what I was experiencing and at times, I felt dismissed or told to ignore what I knew was happening in my own body.
Over time, my health continued to decline. My energy dropped, my body became increasingly reactive, and I began experiencing symptoms I later learned were connected to POTS. At my lowest point, even basic movement felt overwhelming, and I no longer recognized my body or my capacity.
That loss of energy, identity, and trust in my body was one of the hardest parts of this journey.
What started to change things
Healing didn’t come from one single solution, it came from learning how to listen.
Through breathwork, nervous system support, and working with practitioners who looked at the body as a whole, I began to understand how much my system had been pushed beyond its limits.
I started focusing on gentle practices that helped my body feel safe again, supporting my nervous system, stabilizing my blood sugar, and adjusting my approach to movement in a way that worked with my body instead of against it.
Working with a functional doctor, therapist, and other practitioners helped me piece things together in a way that finally made sense.
It wasn’t fast. And it wasn’t linear.
But slowly, things began to shift.
What I believe now
Healing isn’t about forcing your body to change, it’s about learning how to work with it.
The best path forward isn’t found in extremes or quick fixes, but in understanding your body and becoming your own advocate.
For many of us with sensitive systems, healing happens through small, consistent steps that help the body feel supported, regulated, and safe over time.
This space is for you if…
- You’re living with POTS, MCAS, hypermobility, or a sensitive nervous system
- You feel like your body isn’t responding the way it “should”
- You’ve tried to push through and it’s only made things worse
- You’re overwhelmed and don’t know where to start
- You’re looking for a gentler, more sustainable way to heal
Where I am now
I’m still on this journey.
I’m continuing to navigate POTS, MCAS, and hypermobility while working to support my nervous system and overall health. But compared to where I started, I now have days where I feel like myself again where movement feels possible, and my body feels more stable.
That progress didn’t come from doing more.
It came from doing less, more intentionally.
Healing in Small Steps is where I share what’s helping so you don’t have to figure it all out on your own.
